Arriving at our Houseboat in Leiden
Moira Schneider
We were picked up by the owner of the little houseboat we are staying on while in Leiden & meandered from the train station to the canel where it is moored. It is sweet, brightly coloured interior as many Dutch like the bright colours. We have room to spread out & nice to come home from walking & sightseeing. To sit on the little decking area wide enough for table & chairs & watch other boats passing by. Having breakfast this morning was a treat with everything so still. A mother Moore Hen with her chicks came passing by looking for food - was able to feed her, then 2 white swans came up for feeding too . ..
Little living area which has windows on all sides.
So many boats went by as families enjoyed the warm weather & most had picnics on board ...
This little cottage is opposite our Houseboat where the Moore Hen & her chicks were sheltered under the greenery touching down to the waters edge.
The most beautiful flower & plant shop that went very deep with decorating sections in every colour shape & form with an outdoor garden. It left me speechless with the beauty. I need to go back as it is just down the lane way from our boat. The owners have grown up here, know the area & history well. They shared how people love to come by for fresh flowers to take to each other when having dinner together, or husbands bringing flowers home after dinner - let alone the choice of potted plants as gifts or just to add to their homes decorating & enjoyment ..
Will finish - get my walking shoes on & explore more ....
